Plastic Bottles Recycled into Haggar LK Life Khaki Eco-Line Made with REPREVE

After one year on the market, Haggar and Repreve can celebrate 14 million plastic bottles recycled into the Life Khaki collection of casual pants. Each pair contains seven recycled plastic bottles, and are sold nationwide. In celebration, ALL Life Khaki products will be discounted to $25 this Friday and Saturday only, on haggar.com and at Haggar Outlet Locations.

Haggar Clothing Co. announces its one year anniversary of its highly successful LK Life Khaki™ brand. With its modernized design and eco-friendly fabrications, LK Life Khaki pants are made with an innovative blend of cotton and REPREVE® fibers. REPREVE is an essential fabric ingredient that contains recycled materials, including plastic bottles. Each pant contains the equivalent of seven recycled plastic bottles, making Haggar the first menswear brand to bring sustainable options to the mainstream market. Within the first year of production of the LK Life Khaki brand, it is estimated that more than 14 million plastic bottles have been recycled.
"With the LK Life Khaki line, we set out with the intent of reaching a younger consumer by way of new products that fit his lifestyle with the added benefit of being eco-friendly,” said Michael Stitt, CEO of Haggar. “Not only did we get his attention, but also a larger share of his closet, which is reflective of the significant growth trend that we are experiencing within this brand."
Designed to change the way men buy khakis, the LK Life Khaki collection features an array of fits including slim, relaxed and straight that were designed for multiple wearing occasions. Men have shown that they appreciate how LK Life Khakis pants can take them from work to a barbeque, a wedding, or even a job interview. The LK Life Khaki line is available in more than 4,000 locations including leading department stores in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, as well as online.
“Our work with the LK Life Khaki brand is an exciting opportunity to educate the consumer that plastic bottles don’t belong in landfills; they can be recycled into products like casual clothes, performance apparel, socks and even car interiors,” said Roger Berrier, president and COO for Unifi, the makers of REPREVE.
As eco-concerns arise, companies like Haggar and Unifi are realizing their need to analyze and reduce their environmental footprint. Haggar’s use of REPREVE recycled fibers in the LK Life Khaki collection demonstrates a commitment to the environment.
"We want to develop and sell products that sustain our natural resources and the environment; not because we have to, but because it is the right thing to do,” said Nancy Dowling, VP of Merchandising and Design for Haggar. “Even in a recovering economy, we are fortunate to be able to attract new customers with fresh product ideas that in this case have a direct impact on the environment. Not many brands can say that today."

LondonEdge Fashion and LondonEdge Original New Focus Zones for 2013

In its 14th year, LondonEdge continues to improve, develop and grow and remains the biggest and best show of its kind in the world.
With an incredible array of brands the show caters to a group of some of the most creative and exciting ‘niches’ in fashion and accessories. Bringing everything from dramatic footwear and elaborate corsets to body piercing merchandise, vintage, retro, 40s, 50s, 60s, 80s, mod, fancy dress, hosiery, swimwear and more.

Brands such as Freddies of Pinewood and Daisy Dapper appeal to the rockabilly consumer and compliment the retro and rock brands such as Alchemy and Evil Bunny.

To help buyers understand the plethora of brands available, the show is split in to two different areas – LondonEdge Fashion and LondonEdge Original.

LondonEdge Original offers a typically edgy platform for punk, rock n roll and tattoo styles where as LondonEdge Fashion lends itself to the quirky, commercial and high fashion collections that are currently enjoying vintage, retro and kitsch influences – perfect for individuals and fashionistas.

This clear division appointed for the September 2012 show proved a positive change and successfully highlighted the broad and exciting ranges on offer at the show.

For the 2013 shows there are further focus zones within these two areas – London X (for more risqué/burlesque/lingerie) and Horror & Costume within LondonEdge Original and in LondonEdge Fashion The Festival Tent (for all things needed by music festival goers from clothing to lifestyle products) and the continued growth of VintEdge  (vintage, reformed vintage, vintage inspired and craft-inspired clothing & jewellery).

A consistently entertaining show, LondonEdge offers buyers & exhibitors added value such as Burlesque performances, aerial acrobatics, contortionists, free haircuts, Betty bangs and rolls at the Mister Ducktail Lounge, live tattoo & graffiti art and daily walkabout artists.

As well as providing a positive atmosphere and entertaining show, business is conducted there and then, erasing the pressure to put orders in at a later date.

Continually developing and improving, for 2013 the show dates have been brought forward from February to January 25th – 27th, a change put in place to fit in with the exhibitors and buyers needs and give the exhibitors the very best advantages in the market place.

LondonEdge is one of the longest standing and consistent fashion trade shows in the UK offering an ever-evolving platform for its UK, European and worldwide exhibitors and buyers.

January 25-27, The National Hall, Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, W14 8UX
