The holiday sales season is coming soon.  In an effort to stay ahead of the curve, Apparel Search has created for new websites dedicated to the holiday sales season.  We have created two sites about Black Friday and two sites about Cyber Monday.  Obviously, all four sites are regarding the clothing and fashion accessory aspects of these holiday sales.

Apparel Search Facelift 2011

Apparel Search has just had a minor facelift.  Today, we have uploaded a new first page to the site.  It is a bit of a cleaner look.  Hopefully our viewers like it.  It is now visible for review at Apparel Search.

We have removed from the main page the following image.  By the way, we really love that image.  We just felt it was time for a change.

We may add this Apparel Search image back in the future.  But for now, hopefully you will like the new images.

Apparel Industry Struggles : Discuss Solutions at the fashio forum discussion area on FIN

During the past few years, apparel retailers, manufacturers and wholesalers have been confronted with complex challenges.  At the same time that speed to market and overall supply chain efficiency remain as crucial concerns, the cost of doing business has dramatically increased.  If you are an apparel manufacturer, you are well aware that cotton and other fibers and materials have gone up significantly in price.  Also, the growth in once highly competitive labor markets is driving the price of production higher and higher.  So, what should an apparel business do to stay competitive?  Should we raise prices to our customers or will this force them to walk away from us an purchase product else where?  Well, if the cotton prices have risen for everyone, doesn't that mean our competitors prices also must increase.

Fashion Technology Touch Up 2010 : Apparel Search

This evening, I have touched up the fashion technology page on Apparel Search.  Not to bore you, but the reason is that I now develop Apparel Search on a new software.  When I moved from the old to the new, a few of the pages (pages that used themes), became all screwed up.  This evening I noticed that the layout of the fashion technology page, became a huge mess.  Therefore, I spent a few ours re-designing the page.  Yes, I know that it does not look like a few hours worth of work.  Well, I had a great deal of trial and error trying to get the layout figured out.  Anyway, the good news is that allow it is not perfect, the fashion technology page is now back in action.

By the way, I also have a fairly new fashion technology directory website at www.FashionTechnologyDirectory.com  That site runs on a fairly cool database system.  If you own or work for a fashion technology company, you are welcome to create a free listing.

Actually "designing" fashion is only a small part of the apparel industry.  In order to be a successful fashion designer, it is important to have a skill set that goes well beyond the design aspects of fashion.  Although I can not discuss all aspects of the apparel industry in this blog post, I would like to give you a few hints in regard to the garment manufacturing aspects of the industry.

Here are a few resources that may help you find clothing manufacturers that can assist you with producing apparel and fashion accessories.

First, I would suggest you visit the clothing manufacturer section on Apparel Search.  From there, you will find clothing factories, trim suppliers and apparel manufacturing contracters such as sewing facilities.

By the way, before fashion designers select clothing factories they should also have experience with pattern making or higher a professional pattern maker.
